Anna Politkovskaya is murdered...
Russian prosecutors investigating the murder of Anna Politkovskaya say they believe her death could be linked to her investigative reporting.
Ms. Politkovskaya was believed to poisoned on her way to act as a mediator in the Beslan incident. Here is a BBC interview with her on the case.
The colleagues of prominent Russian journalist Anna Politkovskaya, who was found shot dead in an elevator at her Moscow home, have paid tribute to her.

The Editors Weblogs compiles the World's Press Condemnation of the Murder while an older post there states that Record Number of Journalists Killed is alread killed in 2006:( Newspaperindex also reports the murder and Edward Lucas provides an obit (unofficial, for now)
