Hrant Dink assassinated...

Hrant Dink (b. 15.9.1954, Malatya, Turkey - d. 19.01.2007, Istanbul, Turkey) was an Armenian editor, journalist and column writer from Turkey.
Prominent and active in various democratic platforms and civil society organizations, Hrant Dink emphasized the need for democratization in Turkey and focused on the issues of free speech, minority rights, civic rights and issues pertaining to the Armenian community in Turkey.
Hrant Dink was the founder and editor-in-chief of the Agos (also here) weekly in Istanbul, a newspaper published in Armenian and Turkish. He also wrote for the national dailies Zaman and Birgün.
Born in Malatya on 15 September 1954, Dink moved to Istanbul at the age of seven where spent the rest of his life. He received his primary and secondary education in Armenian community schools and graduated from the Zoology Department of Istanbul University. He then continued his education at the Philosophy Department at the same university.
He was shot and killed on 19 January 2007 in the Istanbul district of Osmanbey, near the Agos newspaper offices.

I am sorry and ashamed that Hrant was killed in Turkey,
Istanbul,
most probably by someone who was proud to be Turk, but no more than DIRT on humanity.
